SOCIAL CLUB REPORT: Mother’s day

Social Club Mother’s Day

First, with the students we started by talking about Mother’s Day. We read a text about the origin of Mother’s Day, and then we watched a video with extra information about it. After that, the students answered some questionnaires, took notes based on the video, and responded to different questions related to the topic.

Then, the students practiced with a word search activity that included verbs related to the text they had read. In the next part, we played a tic-tac-toe game with verbs connected to Mother’s Day. The students had to identify the base form, simple past, or past participle form of different verbs.

After that, the students shared what they would buy for their mothers if they only had 20 soles to buy a gift, and they had to explain their reasons. In the following activity, the students participated in an interactive interview where they asked questions to different classmates, rotated with partners, and later reported their classmates’ answers.

Finally, we finished with an activity called “Message to My Mom,” where the students wrote a short letter to their mothers. In their letters, they could express gratitude, talk about memories, promises, or wishes. They also followed certain structures to help them write their letters correctly.

With these activities, the Mother’s Day Social Club was completed, giving importance to the celebration through interactive activities while practicing and applying English skills.
